Why We Started marrō: Reimagining Bone Broth for Everyday Life

The idea for marrō began with a problem we kept running into in our own home:

We knew and understood the benefits of bone broth.
But none of us actually enjoyed drinking it.

We didn’t come from the beverage industry. We weren’t CPG veterans or food scientists. We were simply a family trying to incorporate the benefits of bone broth into our daily lives. And we were running into the same problem over and over again.

Bone broth is incredibly nutritious.
But actually drinking it? That’s another story.

Discovering the Benefits

Like many people focused on health and wellness, we were drawn to bone broth because of what it offers:

  • naturally occurring collagen

  • amino acids like glycine and proline

  • minerals and electrolytes

  • clean, whole-food protein

These are the building blocks of recovery, joint health, skin health, and gut support.

For centuries, bone broth has been a staple food in cultures around the world.

The challenge wasn’t the nutrition.

The challenge was the experience.

The Recovery Problem

As a long-distance runner and amateur weekend warrior, I started drinking bone broth as a recovery tool after long runs and hard workouts.

From a nutritional standpoint, it made perfect sense. Bone broth delivers protein, amino acids, and electrolytes that support recovery.

But there was one obvious problem.

After a long run, the last thing you want is a steaming cup of hot soup.

You’re hot. You’re thirsty. You want something refreshing.

Hot broth just didn’t fit the moment.

Cold broth wasn’t much better. Drinking chilled soup after exercise felt just as strange.

The Wellness Routine Problem

At the same time, Heidi was drinking bone broth for a different reason.

She loved the benefits for collagen, hair, skin, and nails, and had started incorporating it into her daily wellness routine.

But again, the experience didn’t match the intention.

Bone broth works great during the colder months, but once spring and summer arrive, drinking warm savory broth every day becomes less appealing.

And again… cold soup doesn’t solve the problem.

The Kid Test

Then came the ultimate test: our kids.

One of our children has struggled with gut and intestinal issues, and bone broth is often recommended as a gentle, nourishing option to support digestive health and heal the intestinal lining.

So naturally, we tried to get them to drink it.

The answer was immediate and clear:

Absolutely not.

They refused. And honestly, we couldn’t blame them.

If something is difficult for adults to enjoy, convincing kids to drink it is even harder.

There Had to Be a Better Way

After enough of these moments, we started asking a simple question:

What if bone broth could be experienced differently?

What if you could enjoy the benefits of bone broth in a format that actually fits modern life?

Something refreshing.
Something convenient.
Something you’d actually want to drink.

Not something that felt like a chore.

That question ultimately led to marrō.

Reimagining an Ancient Superfood

We set out to rethink bone broth from the ground up.

Instead of treating it like soup, we imagined it as something entirely different: a refreshing, everyday beverage.

The result is marrō.

A lightly carbonated, fruit-forward drink designed to make the benefits of bone broth more approachable and enjoyable.

Each can delivers clean protein, collagen, amino acids, and electrolytes—but in a format that feels closer to a sparkling beverage than a bowl of soup.

Cold. Crisp. Refreshing.

Something you can drink after a workout, during the day, or anytime you want to support your health.

A Daily Wellness Ritual

Our goal with marrō was never just to create another protein drink.

We wanted to make it easier for people to incorporate real, functional nutrition into their daily lives.

Not as something you force yourself to drink.

But as something you actually enjoy.

A simple daily ritual that supports recovery, wellness, and longevity.

Because when healthy choices are easy (and enjoyable!), they’re much more likely to become part of everyday life.

That’s the idea behind marrō.

And it all started with one simple realization:

Bone broth is amazing.
But it deserved a better experience.
